End of winning streak

After a very successful 1st half of the season, the Lions finally tasted defeat. The team put it down to a long spell of no football and forgetting what a football looks like. Many new faces appeared on Sunday too, so there was a level of unfamiliarity amongst the team. In addition, Daan had played regular football, as they had being playing at Dajia when the Lions were supposed to play at Wenlin (which never happened). In the end, it was a tough 2-1 defeat to a Daan team who were ready to play.

To begin the game The Lions couldn’t adjust to its new 4-4-2 formation and often conceded control of the ball in the midfield. However, after a rousing speech from coach Costa during the water break, you could hear the roar amongst the squad. The team had a new edge and were in control of the game from then on. The last minute of the second half was when Daan made the breakthrough. On the wing, the Daan striker got lucky from a lobbed ball which bounced over and into the middle of Lions box and shot to goal to score.

After a few substitutions, The Lions were more aggressive to begin the second half. This was what the game and the fans needed. Chances were created from both sides but the keepers didn’t let the score change. Not until the 75th minute, when Enoc finally put the ball in the back of the net. His lovely girlfriend had tears in her eyes. She was over the moon to watch her man pull the game back.

After 1-1- the Lions were the more aggressive team. Daan defended well, using the counter-attack to break the game. In the end, it was such a play that got Daan the winning goal. Last minute - same striker - same goal - game over.

Gutted. 110 games to go. Still top of the league and we need to move on to this Sunday.
