A little more pressure than necessary but 3 points to the good: Red Lions 3 – Magpies 2.

Red Lions displayed great football and control of the ball the whole first half and got the goal they deserved. Lovely passing combinations allowed Morten G to get in front of goal and finish sweetly. 1-0 Lions

It was Magpies who evened the score though. A rapid counterattack ended with a Xavi shot that Max couldn't get enough on to save. That wasn't the end of the goals. A handball inside the area meant the Red Lions were awarded a penalty. With the regular spot kicker off the field, it was up to last weekends superstar Enoc to get the job done. Job done. 2-1. It should be noted that the Lions were clearly the better team and the score should have been a lot more by this point.

After the break, the focus was on maintaining superiority and ball control, cooling down the pace of the game and reducing the chances for Magpies. Sadly, that was not what happened. A wild reaction from new player Lamin Jr ended control of the game for the Lions for a while. Lamin lashed out wildly after a challenge, end result red card. Lions 10, Magpies 11. The next 10 minutes were mental. From the red card then came a Magpies penalty. The Magpies striker really went for the Oscar, I think he tripped over the long grass. Anyway, they scored. 2-2.

Coach Costa finally got involved. We needed him on the field. He was on fire for a while, but then missed a penalty. No praise to the keeper...it was a shocker!!!!! Too many Peroni beers the night before we think were the real reason for the miss. He also lost his kit that day - a round is certainly expected.

With few minutes left on the clock Lions moved with more heart and strategy. Opportunities were plentiful and finally paid off in a free kick. V.Mas crossed in a free kick. Amazingly, it went over all players and dropped in top corner. Goal Lions. Game over. Goodbye Magpies for another year.

9 games to go.

Lion of the match: Enoc
